Tree: Louisa Crabapple
By far my favorite plant in my front yard! This is not the typical umbrella form of a weeping tree; it is more horizontal weeping with rambling arches. In the spring, the large buds are a salmon color with tints of white on the edges and opens to a blush pink color. For a time in the spring while some flowers are open and some still in bud, the color contrast is outstanding. The bark turns a bright salmon color in cooler weather, so that too is a great contrast in the winter when there is snow on the ground. It grows to be 15’ tall by 15-20’ wide. |

Shrub: Hydrangea Limelight
I fell in love with this hydrangea while working at the Zoo. The chartreuse green buds slowing transform to white conical flowers that turn a stunning bright white. I think the form is the best of all the paniculata types, with a great tight, upright vase shape. A very strong and reliable shrub for this area. Grows to be 5’ wide by 5’ tall. |

Perennial: Becky Shasta Daisy
Not a new variety, but a super reliable, sturdy and tough perennial. I started with one quart over ten years ago and dug it up to move with me. I now have over 6 patches of it throughout my yard. Becky has very sturdy stems and grows about 3’ tall. Nothing is quite as cheerful as seeing bright, tall daisy flowers in the summer (except maybe the first Daffodil that blooms in the spring) |
