If you are gardening where there is a deer population, it can be helpful to know which plants attract deer and which plans deer leave alone.

ATTRACTIVE
Annuals and biennials: Begonias, impatiens, pansies, petunias, hollyhocks, delphiniums, marigolds and nasturtiums,tomatoes, lettuce, spinach and asparagus .
Perennials: Roses (both flowers and new growth), honeysuckle vines, columbine (flowers), day lillies (flowers and plants), bulb lillies, astilbe, asters, bleeding heart, hosta (flowers and plants), veronica, sedum, candytuft, scabiosa, lavatera and bulb plants such as tulips, crocus and camassia.
Trees: Japanese yew, hydrangeas, fir, taxus, juniper, azaleas, tulip poplar, maple, magnolia, cheamacyprus, ulmus pumila, dogwood, oak seedlings, poplar, hickory, peach, apple, pear, plum, quince and hazelnut.
Non-Attractive
Annuals: Ageratum or floss flower, zinnias, lisianthus, poppies (Shirley, California and peonaeflora), salvia, cleome or spider flower, cosmos, nicotiana or flowering tobacco, sunflowers, geraniums, sweet alyssum, dusty miller and bulb flowers including gladiola, calla, acidenthera,tigridia, caladium and narcissus.
Perennials: turtlehead, peony, geranium, chrysanthemum, ferns, coreopsis or tick-seed, gasplant, epimedium, or fairy lanterns, bergenia or saxifrage, baby's breath, false snapdragon, globe thistle, arum, hellebores, goldenrod.
Trees: sycamore, ginkgo, pecan black walnut, sumac, wild bush honeysuckle, pawpaw, persimmon, beech birch, sour gum or tupilo, arbor vitae, spruce, tree of heaven or ailanthus, hackberry.
